BREATHTAKING UNDERWATER ADVENTURES IN PARADISE

Magic Sands

Magic Sands beach is a famous beach located in Kona along Ali’i Drive on the Big Island of Hawaii. Magic Sands is also a popular place to see picnics because you can rent blankets and chairs there. While it might sound counterintuitive, Magic Sands was named as such because of its grayish-black sand particles that cause different colors to appear depending on when you visit. This is because the sand colors change as the weather changes. The beach is beautiful year-round, but it’s more magical on a sunny day with blue skies.

The best time to visit Magic Sands Beach is morning or evening hours for the best color effects. The beach is not considered dangerous, but the sand is very loose and slippery. The waves are very rough at this beach, so it would be best to move away from the water if you feel like you will be hurt.
Beyond the shoreline of Magic Sands Beach is a large lava rock arch that creates a natural gateway to a lava tunnel.

To reach the tunnel’s opening, you will have to walk through two wooden stairs and a metal plate. If this sounds dangerous, don’t worry. The beach is considered safe for swimming, and you will not need life jackets in Hawaii because of the warm water temperature.

If visiting Magic Sands Beach with a group of people, it is best to get there early because it gets crowded quickly. Magic Sands Beach is a great place for amateurs and professionals to hone their skills. Some people have bathed in the water and discovered that the water is hot and clear, ideal for swimming. The warm water allows for swimming year-round, but this is a beach more suitable for visitors interested in snorkeling. Snorkeling is a popular pastime activity in Hawaii because of the high volume of marine life and the crystal clear waters.

Several varieties of fish can be found swimming around Magic Sands Beach, including eels, turtles, and stingrays. The presence of such large amounts of fish can make your snorkeling experience more fun.

The next time you’re in Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, be sure to stop by Magic Sands Beach for some fun in the sun. Are you interested in snorkeling here? Just sign up for a snorkeling tour and request Magic Sands.

Snorkeling at Magic Sands needs to be done with an experienced guide and should only be undertaken on calm days. Tides and surf conditions affect the best and safest time to snorkel in this bay. Magic Sands Beach is home to some world-renowned Hawaiian green sea turtles known for their gentle ocean habits. Visitors can observe them as they feed on seagrass or scour the beach. It is also an excellent place to see many varieties of tropical fish that can be found in Hawaii’s warm, clear, and inviting waters. It is well worth the trip to snorkel around Magic Sands because the diversity of underwater life is fantastic.

This beach is an excellent area to take pictures, as it has a comprehensive view of the south coast and provides expansive views of the island.

The sand is white and mounds into large shapes reminiscent of Hawaii’s famous poi (pounded taro). The surf makes waves that are safe for swimming but should be avoided during strong or sudden winds. However, the water temperature at this beach is comfortable, and there aren’t many coral reefs in the bay. In addition, the bay is protected from the powerful and frequent South Pacific storms that regularly batter Hawaii’s coasts.

There are a few ways to get there. First, you can either take the bus or drive rental cars to Kona City, then catch a ferry, which takes 5 minutes. If you are signed up for a tour to this location, we will take care of all the transportation to and from the beach and our main office free of charge.
